St Peter's Parish is located in southeast Lincoln, just south of 45th Street and Old Cheney Road. Bishop Glennon P. Flavin established our parish in 1990 and appointed Father Robert Vasa as pastor. A house on Duxhall Drive was purchased to serve as rectory, chapel, meeting room and office. The first baptism and parish Mass were celebrated in August of 1990 in the rectory.

In September of 1990, Edgewood III Theaters became the new site for Sunday Mass. The parish enrollment was a little over 300 households. We lovingly called our location St Edgewood. In November of that year the ground breaking ceremony for the school was held and a Knights of Columbus Council was formed.

In September of 1991, the school opened its doors and the new gymnasium became the site for Mass that December. The church was dedicated in September of 1995. In 1996, Father Michael Christensen was installed as the second pastor of St Peter's Parish. The parish hall has since been dedicated in honor of Bishop Robert Vasa following his consecration in January of 2000.

We are a growing parish with a total parish enrollment as of November 2011 of 1470 households.

THE PARISH BOUNDARIES BETWEEN ST. PETER'S & CHENEY ST. MICHAEL'S need to be observed. If you are moving within this area - but outside St. Peter's boundaries - you will need to become St. Michael's members even if your school age children are allowed to stay in St. Peter's School, space permitting. Please do not ask for exceptions.
